Simplify Creating Reports for Multiple People using the Current User as a Filter

If you have multiple people in your firm or company that need to receive a report with the same information but filtered based on the current user, you can do this easily by specifying the "<current user>" as the value for a filter in the Filters box for columns that are AppColl contacts. When different people login, they will see different results based on the filter.

For example, if you have multiple attorneys in your law firm and you wish to have a report that shows just the matters for one attorney (so that each attorney can easily see the matters assigned to them), you can create one report that filters the matter attorney column for <current user>. If attorney Fred Smith logs in and runs the report he will see only matters with Fred Smith as attorney. If Julia Jones logs in and runs the report, she will only see matters with Julia Jones as the attorney. This removes the need for creating and maintaining multiple separate reports, one for each attorney.

You can also use a <current user> filter in a scheduled report, provided that the recipient is an AppColl contact. When AppColl runs the report (which is done in a background task without anyone logged in - e,g. no "current user"), it uses the report recipient as the "current user" for the filtering.
