Import Tasks

You may have situations where you need to add many tasks into AppColl, especially if these tasks would not have been created from information in Patent Center or TSDR. International matters are a good example.  Below are the steps to import a group of tasks, using the attached spreadsheet:

  1. Note which columns are labelled "Mandatory for Add."
  2. When completing the Task Type and Task Status columns, be sure you spell the task names and statuses exactly as listed in AppColl. Otherwise AppColl will create new task types and statuses based on the incorrectly spelled name or status.
  3. After you have entered all your tasks, delete rows 2-6 and column A. Row 1 must remain intact.
  4. Save the spreadsheet.
  5. Important: Save the spreadsheet as a cvs file, using the "save as" feature and selecting the "Comma Separated Values (.csv)" File Format.
  6. In AppColl's Tasks module, click the Import CSV link in the upper right corner.
  7. From the popup window, click the Choose File button and select your csv file.
  8. Select the "Add New Tasks" radio button.
  9. Click the Import button. AppColl will check the file for any errors. If no errors are found, click the Import button in the upper left and you're done.
  10. If there are errors, AppColl will indicate the problems. Repeat the steps until no more errors are reported.
