Getting Started with Signatures - Quick Setup and Test

AppColl's Signatures module automates the process of getting signatures on documents that are part of the IP management processes.

Although specifically designed for collecting signatures for inventor assignments and declarations, it can also be used to manage any other documents that are commonly signed, such as client engagement letters. When setup, the process of sending documents out for signature, reminding the document recipients that their signature is required, and storing the signed document can be completely automated.       
 

Quick Setup and Test

  1. Hover over Settings icon and click the Settings menu option.
  2. Click the Signatures tab.
  3. Enable the Signatures module if not already enabled by clicking the Enable Signatures Module checkbox. 
  4. If you have DocuSign or Adobe Acrobat Sign, click the appropriate Connect to… button. You will be prompted to log in and give AppColl permission to connect. 
  5. Once connected, if you need to disconnect at any time, click the Disconnect from… button. 
  6. If you make any changes on the screen, click Save. Note: To enable Signatures for non-admins, go to their Contact record, click the Permissions button and check the Can use the Signatures module checkbox. Then, be sure to click Ok and Save. 

  1. Create a new test matter by going to the Matters module.
  2. Click the Add button.

  1. Enter a Title (such as “Test”).
  2. Update the Attorney Ref if desired. 
  3. Select “United States” for the Country field.
  4. Select “Utility: Non-Provisional” for the Type.
  5. Add an Inventor (that has your email address). 
  6. Select a Filing Date.
  7. Enter an example Application Number.
  8. Click the Save button. 

  1. Go to the Signatures module.
  2. Select the Record for the newly generated document.
  3. Click the Send button. 

  1. Use the link in your email to follow the instructions to sign the document (whether you use AppColl, DocuSign, or Adobe Acrobat Sign as the provider).
  2. Return to the Signatures module and click the Refresh button.
  3. Ensure the Status of the sent document updates to Completed.
